Detailed Information

Physical Description

Olivia is about 5'6" and would be what most would call "uncharacteristically endearing" in appearance. With wavy dark brown hair combined with uncommonly striking blue eyes, she is not overtly pretty, but her personality tends to override what she lacks on the outside. The length of her hair changes depending on her mood, but most of the time falls to just below her shoulders, although she has gone through phases where the urge to cut it incredibly short has nearly overcome her urge to keep it at longer length.

Though not skinny or waifish by any means, she prides herself on her feminine shape and makes frequent jokes about her hips being bony enough to poke an eye out. The one physical attribute that she isn't incredibly fond of is her nose. It is the one thing inherited from her father that she can't stand and would spend hours in front of the mirror attempting to pinch it into a more pleasing shape before she realized that there was nothing she could do about it. Now, in her mid-twenties (horror of horrors), she has finally come to terms with its distinct prominence and is now beginning to love it just the way it is.

Her voice is rather low for a woman's, which makes it easier for her to impersonate a man if she has the desire to do so. This mischevious streak did get her in trouble with her mother in the past, but now that she is independent she finds herself doing so much more often.

Personal Information

Quirky would be one word to describe Olivia. Witty, with a particularly dry sense of humor would also be fairly accurate. She isn't popular among the women, but the men instead for that very reason, much to the chagrin of her mother. Women don't understand her, men are fascinated by her, and she is amused by both. Over the years, she has been in relationships with both genders, but recently finds herself preferring the company of no one in particular and prefers to approach her relationships as they present themselves. She does consider herself more of a tomboy, but prefers to dress ambiguously from time-to-time, alternating between long, flowy dresses and pantsuits when she takes on the role of her male "alter-ego", going by the name of Owen.

Olivia is a relatively optimistic person, choosing to look on the bright side of things, and it is because of this that most people are attracted to her when her good mood rubs off on them. She hasn't made very many close friends yet, having just moved back to Cape Town a few months ago, but is looking to make more than the occasional acquaintance.

Backstory

Born on August 4, 1986 to Emma Fitzwilliam and Jacob de Havilland in Cape Town, Olivia de Havilland was the first and only child born into the prestigious union. Her father owns a decently-sized portion of the de Havilland Aircraft Company, a British aviation manufacturer founded in 1920 by the great Geoffrey de Havilland, which produced many of the world's planes used since the Second World War onward. Her parents met on a plane, ironically. Emma was flying to South Africa for a charity benefit, Jacob was on the plane because it was the first successful test run of the DHC-8, and the rest is history. A year after their marriage in 1985, Olivia was born. A few attempts were made after Olivia's birth to conceive a male child, but miscarriages and Emma's resulting fragile health (which later healed itself due to her abilities), as well as Jacob's busy schedule prevented the couple from having any more children. It was going to be something that Emma would thank herself for later when Olivia proved to be a very impish child.

From an early age, she started showing signs of her desire to pursue a career in performance. Her mother attempted to curb it by forcing her to go to piano lessons (which she dreaded, her teacher would whack her knuckles with a ruler whenever she hit a wrong note), ballroom dancing lessons (her boyish qualities lent her to playing the man when dancing with her fellow students) and singing lessons (which she didn't hate quite so much since her teacher told her she had a natural gift as an alto singer). When she was seven, she was sent off to the City of London School for Girls, where she stayed until she completed her studies there at the age of eighteen.

At fifteen, Owen was born. Not born in the sense of actually birthed, but born when he was created in the spaces of Olivia's mind. She was going through a phase, so to speak, and being able to manifest her desires in a male form proved to be much easier. So she started sneaking out at night, dressing in clothes she'd secretly stored away. Miraculously, she was never caught or found out by anyone, and so she's continued to do it even to this day, especially when she finds herself needing some form of escape. The thespian in her sees it as her ability to stay in the mind of another character for long periods of time. Her life as "Owen Hamilton" has been much more dramatic than Olivia de Havilland's; in fact, she even carried on a relationship with another woman in her male guise. Olivia/"Owen" was nineteen; Margaret "Maggie" Thornton was twenty-six -- and married. Their affair was tumultuous at best. Maggie was trapped in an arranged marriage, Olivia was in her first year at Cambridge. They met in a bar and shared their first kiss in the alley behind the street. But the risk of being found out kept Olivia from telling the truth about who she really was, and after completely despising Cambridge and her lifestyle in England, she chose to come back to Cape Town to resurrect her acting career, with Owen also disappearing from the public eye for a few months. But there's no telling when he may make a re-appearance again -- or if Olivia may put that chapter of her life behind her.

As of 2007, she lived in Cape Town with her cat, Sebastian, but found herself jetsetting all around the world on Daddy's airline most days to make appearances at charity benefits, balls, and the like. In August of 2007 she happened to meet JD Monet at a club in Cape Town and the two entered into a short, passionate, whirlwind thing that ended very abruptly, but on good terms in 2008, upon which she flew to London in order to move on with her life.

Backstory: Simplified

One of the infamous Fitzwilliams. Dresses like a man on the side when she's not trying to resurrect her acting career. Very much a mischievous angel.
