Kofa National Wildlife Refuge

Dirty Life's Kofa National Wildlife Refuge is based upon the one in the real world, the way where it runs almost exactly parallel in its history until the part where it fell into disrepair in the late 80s and was only restored properly about five years ago, by Vala MacGruder.

She and her husband Faris, usually called Frankie, run the place. They also run a rehabilitation center, on the same grounds, and live on the grounds in a small house as well. They keep everything from salamanders in the desert wastes to panthers in the more lush areas, and besides Vala herself, there are six other staff veterinarians who live just off the grounds.
