Out of Character
In January of 2007, Rue wanted a semi-stereotypical hunter-jumper. Beth wanted more Rémis.
Insert Joelle here. (Rue also thinks it's sad that people think she is a depthless brat, but then again, Rue needs to play her more.)

Detailed Information
Physical Description
Joelle is built like the rider she is; five feet and five (and a half! the half is important if you ask her) inches tall, strong long legs, blonde wavy hair about to her shoulderblades, and blue-grey eyes.
Personal Information
She's a private boarding school snob of a French teenager living in Québec – "spoiled" might seem, at least at first, to be her personality in a word. Yet while she is slightly superficial and very much an arrogant and sometimes selfish Stereotypical Blonde With Her Own Horse And Fancy Tack And Clothes, when it comes to her horse Snap, and her family, Jo's very loving. Her siblings, parents, and extended family would mean a lot to her even if they weren't the incredibly wealthy Société de Rémi – but it helps.
In a nutshell she's an occasional flirt, a social butterfly, a sometimes-snob, fairly arrogant and smart and talented (at least at riding) enough to get away with it. Touted by some at her school as the prep school equivalent of the Queen Bee of a Popular High School Crowd, she almost fits the stereotype. The only place where she doesn't is that she actually does have genuine, real friends, and doesn't treat everyone like crap – and some people really do like her.
Backstory
Joelle was born at approximately three in the morning on March 7, 1991 in Paris, France. This was unfortunate for father Nicodéme and mother Alice, but did manage to allow quite a bit of the rest of the family to see her very early on after the birth. They stayed in Paris a week before turning around and going back to the family hotel in Calais, where Joelle's older sister, seven-year-old Coralie, promptly decided she hated the infant for keeping the rest of the family away for so long. She had been stuck with her grandparents. (Albert and Marceline, on the other hand, were just rather sad they missed the birth.)
The hatred lasted for about two months, because when Joelle started to do things besides sleep and cry, Coralie actually started to find her interesting. And of course began to carry the baby around the hotel, showing her off to guests. This was at the time that Coralie was learning English, which made the entire thing even more ridiculous – she was using more than one language in the process.
Joelle, though, grew up about as one might expect when looking at a child who grew up in a five-star hotel. Think Eloise, or Dunston Checks In, or any of those other stories about people whose childhood includes hotels – always allowed to use the facilities at any time, but expected to put the contentment of the guests in front of their own. So she was spoiled, but her spoiled existence was checked by the fact that there were almost always guests around.
School never really interested Joelle much – nothing, really, interested her more than horseback riding, which she started at age three when her parents took her trail riding. The interest was born, stuck, and remained. It was about the only thing she ever focused on, and she entered the junior showing circuit at age twelve, to the horror of her parents, who weren't sure how to deal with the mess of their older daughter getting married (Joelle, happily, was a bridesmaid) and their younger daughter getting an athletic career very early on in her life at the same time. But as Coralie had married the chef, Murray, she wasn't going anywhere. This was Joelle's argument when she asked to be able to study at a school with riding as a prime focus – Coralie was sticking around, so couldn't she go?
After getting help from Murray and Coralie in her persuasion, Joelle got permission to move to Stanstead, Québec for training with Gauthier Farms – and to attend Stanstead College, because she had to finish high school regardless. Thankfully, Joelle was only thirteen at the time and very able to transmute her French to Québecois. (These days, her accent is Canadian when she speaks English, and her French swaps from Québecois to Parisian depending on where she actually is.) It was in Québec that she obtained her horse, GF Like Clockwork, and since has been charting the horse back with her to Calais on vacations.
On April 23rd, 2007, Joelle came in second in the Fédération Equestre Internationale trials in Maubeuge, and is currently working (with her partner, Cameron Kent) on qualifying for the 2010 World Equestrian Games in either jumping or eventing. Either, not both. This is the hard part.
She was kidnapped on March 28, 2008 by people attempting to stop construction on a family project (Pierrick's diner, in London). This led to a case of amnesia and meeting Evrard Caron, who reunited her with her family a few days later.
