Out of Character

Eleanor is cute. Cute little Eleanor. I think I should really learn more about her, as I feel quite bad that her section is lacking and she is a doll.

Write to her in Hawaii:

Detailed Information

Physical Description

Eleanor looks the most like her sister Claire. She, too, has light blonde hair, but hers is kept just below her shoulderblades, rather than to the small of her back (for practical reasons). She also has pale blue eyes, as does Claire, and has a naturally fair complexion that finds itself overly freckled and sunburnt more often than not. She's about 5'9".

(She appears as though she is around twenty one years of age.)

Personal Information

Eleanor never really danced beyond the ballet all of the sisters did. Like Louise, she quit dancing (after a few years). She played various instruments but never found one she truly enjoyed, and contented herself with reading (a bomb could drop and she wouldn't hear it) and drawing and swimming on the school team (which she enjoyed).

She is quiet and softspoken and always acted as the mediator between her older sisters. She tends to be a philanthropist, donating time and money to all the causes that concern and interest her.

At college, while not blossoming entirely from the shy personality she had as a child, she discovered her calling was in the sea. She and her husband and children travel extensively and traveling has become somewhat of an art form to her. She received her pilot's license and flies her husband's seaplane quite often. She also knows how to surf quite well (again, thanks to her husband), and swims her daily two miles.

She's the member of the family with the unrelated job as marine biologist.

Her husband calls her Ellie. Her family calls her Nora.

Backstory

Eleanor is the youngest Fitzwilliam daughter of Charles Fitzwilliam and Ruth Fitzwilliam. She was always closest to Claire Driscoll and her younger brother, Patrick Fitzwilliam. Their move to London didn't disturb her. She was greatest disturbed by her sister Louise's response to it. The resentment and fights drove Eleanor into a shell that she didn't come out for most of her teenage years. She kept close groups of friends but did not find herself in a relationship until university.

She began at Queen Mary for university but found that she wanted to break away from London, as her sisters had already conquered it. She transfered to Hawai'i Pacific University after just one year and instantly fell in love with it. Marine biology became her major and she began taking diving lessons, where she met her future husband, Alexander Blumberg, a competitive surfer whose family moved to Hawai'i from Washington when he was eight. He was studying to be a deep sea diver outside of class, and the two became very close friends before marrying a year after graduation.

They bought a home in Hawaii but moved back to Cape Town shortly before the birth of their first child, in 1995. Subsequently, their children attend school and live most of the year there, and the months they aren't in school are filled with jetsetting around the rest of the tropics. Alexander became a documentary filmmaker, often employed by famous and semi-famous scientists who are fond of his filming skills and love for wildlife.

Eleanor keeps her kids just as interested in the sea as she is and when she's not working, she's mothering. Being Claire's closest sister means they certainly do share similarities other than the physical.

She gave birth to the couple's fifth child in November 2007.

Her current issue is whether she is going to make her husband immortal or not. She doesn't see herself living without him.

Backstory: Simplified
