Personal Information

Backstory

Born in London in 1978, Antonia and twin brother Carlton actually saw London for a grand total of three days before departing and not returning for twenty years. Their father was a United Nations diplomat, and they lived in Stuyvesant Town for the next eighteen years of their lives.

Not much happened in Stuyvesant Town, really, and the twins had a totally peaceful upbringing in a nice part of Manhattan (that being Stuyvesant Town, which is, in fact, a nice part of Manhattan).

Then they turned eighteen, graduated from Stuyvesant High School and decided to go abroad, and by 'abroad' really that meant back to England, where they were from but never actually spent any time. (Not to say they didn't have British accents their entire lives. They did. It's the parents.)

In fact, they moved into their family's old townhouse in Kensington and Chelsea, which had been their father's home, and almost instantly became theirs. They spent about two years goofing off, exploring and learning their own old haunts from when they were, in fact, three days old.

The parents never came back to London, preferring to remain as diplomats for their entire lives. Carlton and Antonia, therefore, got to keep the townhouse and its large parking lot entirely to themselves.

When they met a couple -- a cop and a lawyer -- at around twenty, they were inspired to become Brilliant Legal Minds. Carlton actually became a Legal Mind, albeit not brilliant, and Antonia went into court reporting.

Eventually, that couple, Cary and Bianca Vaughn-Blair, became their very best friends and moved in with them.

Carlton was Bianca's assistant, and Bianca also helped get Antonia a job.

They also obtained, at some point, Vaughn's partner Ryan Bertrand in their house. During winters, Carlton traveled with the Vaughn-Blairs to Egypt, and Antonia remained in London.

AND NOW THE SPECIAL STUFF FOR CARLTON!! YAY!!

Worth noting that Carlton was born one hour and four minutes before Antonia. Their poor mother, having twins an hour and four minutes apart.

Anyway, it was a damn good thing, really, that the Lindales and the Vaughn-Blairs picked up Ryan Bertrand, too. He's been quoted somewhere as saying "Carlton Lindale is the only man I see eye-to-eye with -- literally," and it's true. They're the same height, and even in a non-literal sense they're pretty damn good at seeing eye-to-eye. This is a good thing, considering his sister was dating the man for two and a half years. (Of course, Bertrand is gay. Doesn't really matter to Carlton; ever since his first date with Antonia, Bertrand's sex life is this blank area that he refuses utterly to comprehend, to the point of wilful ignorance.)

And then Bertrand saved his life.

There was this really fun incident, see, with him going along with them to Cairo -- it's what happens, really, when you go and fall madly in love with this woman who just happened to be married, and then moved into your house anyway, and then started having any number of affairs, and none of them were with you, and then they invited you to go spend New Years' in Egypt with them -- anyway, they dragged him along into a tomb, and then there was this pit, and it wasn't as if he'd ever been mucking about in a pyramid or whatever before. So it was damn lucky, all things considered, that Bertrand grabbed him in the moment before he fell, instead of say coming back with a bucket after and scooping him up.

So really it was only fair, a while later, when he saved Bertrand's undercover ass. Foolish man, really, off busy being a cop most of the time -- funnily enough, Bertrand lacked a wee bit of information about antiquities. Wouldn't be that much of a problem for him, but Corin Beauregard certainly ought to've known. Whoopsies, as we say. Of course, then Carlton just spoke up and said "he's not answering your question because he's testing me! I'm his student, my job to know the answers." Lucky thing that his thing for Bianca turned into a thing for learning about antiquities so that he actually knew the question, yeah?

And that's Carlton, trapped in a nutshell. He's got a brilliant legal mind somewhere, if he'd stop being in love with Bianca (or the idea of her) long enough to actually dedicate himself to his studies. And work. Thingie.

It's also worth noting that he is an adjunct professor at Keele, where he teaches one class in law.

Backstory: Simplified

Twins are born in London and promptly shipped off to New York City due to their parents being diplomatic sorts. They grow up there. Occasionally people who don't know them mistake them for being highschool OTP soulmate sorts, which is kind of funny in a hilarious sort of way. Male twin manages somehow never ever to meet female twin's best friend; nobody knows how this happens or works. Twins head off to London and Europe and Various Places after graduating high school, meet a couple of cops and a lawyer and decide to become Brilliant Legal Minds, except that neither of them do because one turns into a court reporter and the other becomes a lawyer who really ought to be in management somewhere instead. Time passes. Everyone moves into a townhouse together. Male twin is still madly in love with the lawyer they'd met who was married to one of the cops and then slept around on him a lot (but never with male twin). Other things happen! Strange things! Wondrous things! People fall down holes in Egypt! And then the female twin's best friend comes for a visit, she and male twin finally meet, and once again (for the male twin anyway) it's love at first sight.

Except this time it's actually somewhat reciprocated. And also he gets laid for the first time in about two years, and then several other times after that, too.

He wants to marry her, but hasn't asked yet. She's also heavily pregnant, due May 17th, and the kid is really kind of definitively not his. (Sperm banks are useful, really.)
