Benjamin Fitzwilliam

(1864 - 1881) Benjamin was the youngest son of Lord Alexander Fitzwilliam and his wife, Harriet. His age, in comparison with some of his married older brothers, indicates that his conception was accidental. He was closest to his sister Rebecca, but despite being relatively babied, he lived a very rocky sixteen years.

When he was young, his older brother Geoffrey caused an accident that shattered Benjamin's left knee. The severity of the injury almost caused Benjamin's death, and Geoffrey was heavily reprimanded for what he had done. But from that day onward, Geoffrey never tolerated the presence of his younger brother.

The accident, however, never left Benjamin alone. He walked with a permanent limp, his legs bowed slightly, and was prone to severe coughs and high fevers. It was likely he had tuberculosis at the time of his death.

For a period of time between 1879 and 1881, Benjamin had a loving affair with two Boer servants of the family, Willie and Hans. Unfortunately, Geoffrey, a known player, set his sights on Hans and molested and raped him for a period almost as long. But he became incredibly jealous due to the fact that Hans did not seem to like him (go figure, eh?).

Benjamin was sent to war but his oldest brothers, thinking this was madness, kept him highly protected and Benjain returned without major injury. Unfortunately, within months, Benjamin's life was cut short, anyway.

He was murdered by Geoffrey in the spring of 1881.

Benjamin now haunts the Fitzwilliam Estate, along with Hans and Willie.

And Geoffrey Fitzwilliam.
