Detailed Information

Physical Description

Anne was a cute little child with light brown hair and grey eyes. These colors stayed pretty much the same through her entire life, until her hair turned white. (It still is.)

As a young woman, she was an average 5'3" but with a dominant work ethic that made her seem as tall as her two monstrous brothers. For most of her early life she was a rail like her niece, but after she began having children she started to look more the horrifying picture of everyone's favorite busty female nurse. The weight dropped off eventually and she went back to being a rail.

Today she wears glasses and is still a rail.

Personal Information

Her father went off to fight in WWII when Anne was just a baby, and this left an impression on the entire family, most notably in the three children, who all went into the military. Anne's mother, Betsy, encouraged Anne to start small and work her way up, so Anne and nursing went hand-in-hand for her entire life. She was very patient, very stubborn, and though at first she found it difficult not to get attached, she later learned the finer points of staying sane.

She was gentle and understanding and damn good at her job. Out of the three Fitzwilliam kids, she was the second goofiest after Randolf, as Nigel was always the more serious one (and as he went into the House of Lords, it's no surprise it came in handy). WWII was the most pivotal time in her life, both because she met her husband, but also because as a matron-in-chief, she treated hundreds of thousands and was often disturbed by what came through. Her deepest fear was running into her brothers, who were both fighting.

Even while traumatized by the war, she still managed to shake most of it off and to remain a generally positive person.

She and Nigel were both informed about Randolf's wife's "condition", which was why Anne was so close to the family at later points. She wanted to protect them and it was difficult to find hospital care that was applicable at times.

In any case, Anne is still rather upbeat and physical. She likes to knit and to play croquet and scrapbook.

Backstory

Raised the baby of the modern Fitzwilliam family, went to university and nursing college and left with honors. Later became ward sister at same college, then worked at hospitals, then joined the QA just in time for WWII, where within a couple of years she had climbed ranks to Matron-in-Chief. Met her husband, a doctor with the British Army, had a really madly tragic romantic whirlwind courtship over dead and dying bodies and married in secret.

Popped out three children before 1950 and when her niece Alice was afflicted with TB, uprooted the family and moved them to Cape Town, where her husband, Rupert, started a private practice and she became Alice's nursemaid, despite having young children herself. This was vital to her for some reason or another.

Stayed in Cape Town even after Alice and her family moved back to England in 1954, and returned to Surrey in the 60s at some point, when their youngest was a teenager. Rupert and Anne worked at hospitals again until he retired in the 70s and she retired shortly after. Rupert died in the 90s at some point and Anne has kept on living. Late last year she insisted on being moved out of the old mansion and her children put her into a rest home, which she really enjoys because it's by the coast.

Alice visits her at least once a month.

Backstory: Simplified

Randolf Fitzwilliam's baby sister. Nurse. Close to Alice Fitzwilliam because Anne was her personal nurse when Alice was afflicted with TB.
